Robert Holik, a Slovakian film reviewer has given The Cure a stellar review! Giving it an 8 out of 10 stars and saying wonderful things such as "It's very original and the score is great, probably the best of the movie because it creates the whole tension perfectly. However I have to give a lot of praise to Jafri because he's not only the director but he wrote this and produced it as well. In a review titled "A David Among Goliaths", Robert Simpson of the indie film blog TheSleepyBuffalo.com described The Cure as a "slick indie short" and also states (amongst many other things) "For a debut short, The Cure manages to show where director Ryan Jafri shines." Actor Douglas Davis received many accolades from the review as well. The Cure is heading down under at it screens in Melbourne, Australia! The film will be a part of the 2008 edition of the Sexy International Film Festival. The festival deals with films that have strong female roles, so of course The Cure would be a good choice. The screening will take place on Saturday, September 6th at Glitch Bar and Cinema. The film will screen with another short called Hunting followed by Insect, Getting Lucy and Dreams for Life. Learn more about the festival here! The Cure became an official selection of the "Director's Cut - Short Film Festival" held annually in New Delhi, India. The film screened with other international shorts, this past Saturday, May 31st. This is the first time The Cure has played in India, so it was very exciting! The film also gained another excellent review, this time from Mycitybuzz.com! Gordon Smith, the critic, called the film "beautifully shot" and "a striking short film." In other news, we're still waiting to hear from the Short Circuit Film Festival of Karachi, Pakistan for the definite screening date of The Cure. We'll keep you posted on that. As posted before Ryan Jafri is working with Ben Woodiwiss of the U.K. on future projects. The next film will be another short film, but with a length of at least 30 minutes. The Cure will be a part of the 2008 Short Circuit Film Festival held in Karachi, Pakistan. The festival starts on March 15th, 2008, but due to the tense political situation the country is going through right now that date is tentative. The Cure has been given a really good review from MovieBuffs! The cast, crew, and myself were given many accolades for the work on the film. Mollie Weeks and Douglas Davis were called wise choices in terms of casting, Eric Giovon was given praise for his cinematography and so was Dan Caravetta for the original score he created. The Cure is an official selection of the 2007 Can Film Festival, held annually in Stonewall, MB - Canada. They've been around since 2005 and screen films from their native Canada to far away regions such as Australia, India, and Japan. We don't have an official screening date set yet, but when we do we'll keep you posted, for now learn more about this festival, here! In other news, Jafri Pictures is on it's way to newer projects. Ryan Jafri is collaborating with U.K. based writer, Ben Woodiwiss on feature length scripts tentatively titled At First Sight and Property: Human. At First Sight is a romantic thriller and Property: Human is a science fiction thriller set in the near future. The film's concept deals with the moral side of cloning and the effects it has on the lives of the people that deal with it on a regular basis. Property: Human will most likely go into production before At First Sight, we'll keep you posted! April 26, 2007
